My neighbourhood food centre at Marine Terrace is abysmal. Take a walk through that place and you will generally lose enough appetite to run away screaming.
The only redeeming stalls here would probably be average elsewhere. There's the passable and possibly over-commercialised Bedok Chwee Kueh; a carrot cake stall that sees ridiculously good business for its only-slightly-above-average fare (and hence a haughty stall mistress) and a hardworking fishball noodle stall (only one open til night). There is also roti prata at the row of Muslim stalls behind. Not a particularly spectacular prata, mind you, but it's a good fix when you feel like one for breakfast.
The prata is done slightly chewy, and "garing" (burnt & crispy) with a fairly good curry. Somehow I like my prata slightly elastic too. Love pulling it apart with my hands (fun food!). If I want soft and floury, I'll go for regular pancakes, thank you very much.
Now I need to wash all this down with lots of tea...
Yay! Looks yummy. I would want to try this at home. Thank you for sharing your Roti Prata food experience. ;)
