Books Actually

Frontage of Books Actually
When we went to Goto for kaiseki, we found this little bookshop called Books Actually, right opposite the restaurant. Since we had a few minutes before dinner, we popped in to have a look.

So many goodies
We were instantly charmed. It's bright, cheery, and filled with many delightful things.

Cosy and welcoming
Wherever there's lots of books, we immediately feel at home. This place even feels like the bookshop we dream of opening ourselves.

Nooks and crannies
Books Actually is dedicated to literature and poetry. Yes, there are many familiar titles here, but also some you won't find in the major chains. Hubby bought a book from H.P. Lovecraft that he had been hunting for. If you love vintage books, they have lovingly curated pieces and first editions. Prices are a bit on the high side though.

Cat Viewing Gallery
How odd. There's even a resident cat, named "Cake"... check out the viewing gallery. I didn't see it though.

Round at the back, the cat viewing gallery again
Round the back, and you'll see the cat viewing gallery again. There are eye-catching retro pieces all over the place - old film cameras lining the top of shelves, manual typewriters stashed at the bottom, etc.

I.Love.Shelves!
If you're looking for gifts, they have unusual cards, notebooks (a wall of Moleskines!), hand-bound items and even stuff like pencils emblazoned with author names.

Independent bookshop specialising in literature
This place is a treasure trove. I love the name, logo, branding and all. They have a sister bookshop Polymath & Crust that specializes in non-fiction, nature and science. Marvellous! We need more of such places. Help support indie bookshops, please!

Check them out on Facebook and Flickr.
