Singapore High Tea Buffet List - Updated Oct 2009

Sometimes, nothing says indulgence like a spot of high tea with family or friends. Here's a list of high teas in Singapore, newly updated for 2009 (this supercedes the old list from 2007). I will keep adding and updating here. If there is a place I've missed out, or if you see new promos or broken links, feel free to email me or leave a comment.

There are generally two types of high tea - the ever popular buffet (offering mainly local or Asian snacks), and the fixed portion English tea (think scones and open-faced sandwiches served on three-tier silver stands).

But lines are blurring these days - some English tea sets are refillable, and many buffets also offer international items almost as good as lunch. There are even high teas by Chinese and Japanese restaurants, although these are really more like off-peak specials! I have categorised them as buffet and fixed portion teas, sorted by the eateries' alphabetical name.

To be safe, please call the restaurant to confirm pricing, timing and reservations (especially during festive periods as many places are fully booked or have special prices).

  1. wow! it's been two years already? i remember seeing your list back then, time flies eh? :D

minjiang looks pretty decent, and i heard a lot good things about Lespresso too! high teas are such lovely and expensive indulgence. but i'm short on budget now. haha

  2. If this isn't a labor of love, I don't know what is :)

Thanks for your effort in compiling this list! It would no doubt be of much use to many people.

  3. LIC: Yeah, two years already, I can barely believe it myself. Hey I deliberately included some "low-cost" high teas in this list for people low on budget! But I can't vouch for the quality!

Veron: thank you very much! I quite enjoy putting stuff like this together. It's for my own reference, and I might as well share it with others.

  5. HAHA so fast so fast! i went back to yr old list and saw the date that I commented back then, whoa! okay we need to try out some of them, but i think high tea indulgences are at most an once-a-month affair, too extravegent! hehe

  8. Zaylene: Thanks!

LIC: haha, how many high teas have you been for since you commented on the old list? Actually high tea is not really that extravagant. Sunday champagne brunches are!

    Yixiaooo: You're most welcome!

PeoGeo: thanks, Feast@East is already listed up above.

  9. Hi, sorry a bit off topic here. Could you send me an email to sgbluechip@gmail.com? I have an advertising company willing to place an advert on your blog. Fees will be paid upfront. Do let me know if you are keen.

  12. Great blog, following you for a couple of weeks now!

Wonering whether you now which buffet is better in atmosphere/tastier. Goodwood Park hotel or Ritz-Carlton (or even another one?)

    xoxo

  13. Thanks everyone. Janet, the Ritz-Carlton probably has slightly better atmosphere but also higher prices. I haven't been back to either in the past year, so not sure how the food is recently.

  14. Thanks for your fast reaction! Im doubting whether to have xmass brunch at Ritz Carlton or at Goodwood Park.. I have been to Ritz Carlton and really enjoyed the food en atmosphere. But have no idea how it is at Goodwood. Hear that it's more known for their high tea then Ritz Carlton? At the time you went there, did you liked the food?

  15. I find myself awesomely fortunate to have come across your site, especially this list of afternoon tea! The effort spent in this compilation must be more than a simple job; well done and you are generous in sharing!

I went to Axis at Mandarin Oriental few days ago and I would say that the ambience of the lounge, and the food and price of its English Afternoon Tea were fabulous! The serving of the food was sufficient to fill the stomach of one who skipped lunch and make one who had lunch to skip dinner. The pastries were pleasant delights, and the desserts made you drool for more, though the finger sandwiches were ordinary. The sofa seats were perfect for a laid back. In exchange of all the above, the bill came only at $32 for two after citibank discount. How else can one better spend a relaxing afternoon?

I am hoping to try out the others that you list here. Do you have any recommendations?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hi I'm hoping for some suggestions for a good high tea buffet? -Faith-

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hi. I'm looking for a place which serves English high tea in a 3 or 4-tier tray, preferably with a victorian/english-country decor/ambience. Noted that Ritz Carlton and Conrad offers that. Any other suggestions?

    Vivien

  18. My wife and I took a day off today and suddenly she thought of going for high-tea. Thank goodness your blog save the day. Good write up, good style, interesting and relevant. Thank you. You saved my day.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Wow, I'm glad to be a day-saver, anonymous! :) Thanks for coming to my blog.

The rest above - sorry I was too busy during those periods to reply!
Edithgal, not many places offer the Victorian/English country decor. You can try Foster's The English Rose Cafe, or the Raffles Hotel.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Edithgal, try the Intercontinental for tiered afternoon tea - it's about 35 bucks but with a lot of food!

Camemberu, thanks so much for this list, I am celebrating my 40th birthday and wanted somewhere unique to have afternoon tea and thanks to your list, I am going to go with Halia! So thanks again!

PS - Just wanted to say though that maybe you should retitle your list (the second part) as AFTERNOON tea, because high tea is different and the second part of your list seems to refer to afternoon tea sets only.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks, Melissa. Hope you have a great time at Halia. I've also changed the title of the second part. Cheers.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh Camemberu, you won't believe this, but Halia is incorporating major changes, it's now priced at 28 bucks and has items I do NOT eat such as foie gras and salmon! And just as I was going to book too! So, I'm going with Conrad's afternoon tea buffet and set, which has a 3 tier replenishable stand of scones and sandwiches, PLUS a buffet! All that for 29 bucks, and much better offerings than Halia too.

You might want to change the info for Halia btw, sigh! Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Just an update - Conrad was wonderful!!! Scones and sandwiches were delish, and the buffet spread of sweets was extensive! I would recommend this to anyone wanting to do English tea sets, with a buffet thrown in!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks, Melissa, that's good to hear about Conrad.

  26. Went to Feast@East last week, it was dead quiet, there were less than 4 tables occupied throughout, ample staff. In fact too many, however they were not as attentive as I would expected given the restaurant is quiet for a Saturday afternoon.
Food variety is very limited, not children friendly. Most of the hot items are fried. DIY sandwich corner which serves plain and wholemeal bread, fillings of tuna, egg mayo and I think the other is a ham mix. Overall, we didn't enjoy the tea. Won't recommend at all. No worth the calories and time.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The price at Windows by the Park at Holiday Inn City Centre is no longer valid. Though I was pretty sure I called the hotel to double check before making reservations. They have increased to a substantial of S$ 48+++ per adult and $24.00 for children during Hi-Tea. Very pricey for the amount and variety of food served.
I won't go there again if I didn't have the UOB 1 for 1. Not worth my money, Won't recommend for this price. I would rather go Spices Cafe at Concorde Hotel.

    ReplyDelete
  28. hello! insing.com has got great offers for windows by the park! only $28.25 net, but offers gona end in 1 day's time! try to grab it if u saw this comment :) follow this link http://bit.ly/izgxFo for the offer.
