After months of rallying and voting, the Singapore Blog Awards for 2010 finally took place at Movida, St James Power Station where they unveiled the results!
Here are the winners from the ten categories! Details are already up on their website, so go take a look. The Guest-of-Honour was Mr Teo Ser Luck (dude right in the middle of the back row). He is Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports & Ministry of Transport, as well as MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC. Phew, what a mouthful! Hope I got that right!
And yes, I'm up there too! Camemberu.com won the Best Food Blog award! I seriously could not have done it without you, my readers who voted, so a very big thank you to all of you! You made this possible. And thank you to the judges too!
We had some good nominees in the Best Food Blog category. What I really appreciate about the Singapore Blog Awards is that it gives exposure and recognition to blogs new and old, many of which I would not have discovered on my own. There are many interesting local blogs in other categories too. It's amazing what people can create when given the freedom (and tools) to do so.
The awards evening made use of the best-looking bloggers! Finalists from the Best Modelling Blog and others were invited to strut their stuff on stage.
Everyone was invited to put on the glitz! Candidates who were designated as "Head Turners" or had "The Ultimate Bling" became targets for "I Like" stickers. The ones with most stickers win Phuket resort stays.
Here's Ris Low blinging it all out! She got stickers for sure!
There were some high impact dance performances. And rather unusually, singing acts by bloggers, it seems.
I was glad to see the Stormtrooper Gordonator again. He created quite a stir at last year's awards.
Here he is, getting some stage love again! Will Darth Vader, Obi Wan or Han Solo show up next year? I'd love to see a light saber duel or Cantina fight!
And since this is a food blog, I should mention the food. Unfortunately, the dim discotheque lighting made photography almost impossible.
It was mostly finger food - sausages, ebi-fry, gratin mussels, cottage pie and the like. These are Shanghai gyozas. Desserts included mini cheesecake, and some shooters with raspberry mousse and coffee mousse. Catering was provided by Orange Clove.
The winners' trophy is specially designed by Cultural Medallion winner and award-winning artist Mr Tan Swie Hian.
Prizes this year are phenomenal. I could not believe it when the emcee read out the whole package. I knew vaguely there was some trip to Hong Kong, but an ASUS eeePC Touch, Phuket resort stay, custom Fabrix laptop bag, and other stuff as well? I was thinking, "No way, I'm sure it's shared somehow..." Only when I picked up the rest of the goodies did it all sink in. Oh man, somebody pinch me! I feel like I've won the jackpot!
Well, it's good. All this sponsorship does mean the Singapore Blog Awards are getting some serious industry recognition!
I have stuff from goodie bags and movie premiums from the winner's package to give away. So just let me know in the comments which items you want, and I will pick random winners. Closing date: 12 noon sharp on Tues, July 13th.
UPDATE 14 July: Sorry for slight delay, but here is the list of of who the goodies are going to! Please email me your mailing address, thanks!
