RESULTS UPDATE: It was tough picking only two winners out of nearly 60 for this really excellent makan guide, so I am throwing in two more copies. So we have four winners! Congratulations to Rayvolez, BanBan, Xavi and Vitalism for winning the Makansutra Guide 2011! Please email me your mailing address. Thanks, everyone for joining in the fun!
The Makansutra Singapore 2011 guide is out! It's the best guide you can get to street food (and some restaurants) in Singapore. This new 8th edition features over 1,200 eateries including 290 brand new finds, 152 street food sections and 39 restaurants categories. It's about S$14.80 at most bookstores and some online sites.
KF Seetoh kindly gave me two copies, but I'd already gotten one for myself (I couldn't wait!). So I thought it would be absolutely wonderful to do a post and give these out to readers online. Good things must share!
So, just leave a comment below on what you think of the Makansutra guide (you can include what you like, or what you'd like to see improved, and maybe some hidden gems of eateries you'd like to see reviewed). If you've never read it before, any comment will do, like "I want one!"
I will randomly pick two winners on Sunday (19th Sept 2010) at noon. Results will be announced later that day on the blog and on Twitter.
Here's Jolie wishing you good luck. I'll try not to let her drool over the books first...
.
just seeing jolie wishing me luck is good enough to make my day really!
ReplyDeleteHere's what I have to say about the book. As I have not read it, I just want to comment on the fact that the name of the book is super cool. like the karmasutra is the "bible" of all lovemaking positions possible on planet earth known to mankind, so the makansutra should be the bible of all things that one should contort one's self over, trying to get a hold of, to experience , to eat! totally brilliant name for an eating guide! I want one!! pls pls pls :P hehe

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI have not read Makansultra guide before. However, judging from the cover and title, i think it wld be a great and compact book for a lost and glutton person like me. Often, I am lost whenever it comes to organising food outings or looking for nice and comfort foods during lunch. It is a gem to me with all the reviews of the great foods recommended by the book. Haha.. Of course, if i ever got hold of the book, i guess i won't be seen as a lost sheep walking around with this gem during lunch. Would i be mistakened for a nerdy and hardworking person whenever i carry this chic and handy red book?
i want one

ReplyDeleteOkay, I want a Makansutra Singapore 2011 Guide to assist this Motormouth from the small town of Ipoh (where?!) in his ever growing quest to devour the world. I was actually introduced to your site by Martin & gang when they were walloping some Big Tree Foot's yong tau foo (ask them!) in Ipoh. And they told me about how different the street food scene is, in Singapore compared to Malaysia.
And I should be down in Singapore sometime during the end of the year, so I hope this guide will prove itself to be of use.
Thanks, and keep up what you're doing!
Pick me, please! :)

Hi John,
ReplyDeleteThe guide should be on Amazon soon. But if you urgently need info on eateries in Singapore, you can read the Makansutra.com for part of the recommendations. There are also many sites like HungryGoWhere.com and food blogs you can check out (I have some links on right sidebar). Good luck!
Thanks for the reply, I have looked at the links from your Blog (which is great by the way) plus the others you mention Having read how good the makansutra guide is I wanted a hard copy . Oh well will just have to keep checking Amazon on a daily basis
