Another one of my Makanation stories to share with you while I'm away in Sydney - Havelock Road has some interesting stuff for hungry people - a good roast meat stall, a no-name but ridiculously popular Hainanese curry rice, Hokkien Mee that's lard-blessed, sinful and slippery cockle-laden Char Kway Teow full of wok hei, nice chunky fried fish with tom yum soup.
