I know Typhoon Haiyan has taken up a lot of media attention and we're all chipping in to help however we can to help disaster relief efforts. Over here in Singapore, we are very fortunate, of course. Plus, the ability to give is a real blessing.
Here's a simple way to contribute to add cheer and joy this Christmas right at home. The MINDS Christmas stockings give two-fold benefits - a gift for disadvantaged young people, as well as work support for disadvantaged folks.
MINDS needs sponsorship for 4,400 more stockings by 29 Nov 2013. Each stocking is $10. Now you can donate online via PayPal and e-Banking, in addition to the usual cash and cheque.
Here's an excerpt from their newsletter:
The MINDS Christmas Stockings Challenge is back again! We need your support to sponsor stockings, to be given to 6,000 beneficiaries from MINDS and other charity organizations. Each stocking can be sponsored at $10 each and will be given to children and young persons of disadvantaged/low-income / disability background. We are also proud to say that this year, ALL items in the stockings are made by MINDS’ Social Enterprises. Your support will have the double impact of bringing joy to somebody receiving a present AND providing work opportunities for persons with intellectual disability. Please click here to find out more on how you can help us! We hope to achieve our target of $60,000 by 29 November 2013.
A Simple Sweet Wish
This year we are featuring on the stockings artwork done by Adam Tay, a highly talented client from MINDS-IDEA Employment Development Centre. You can read more about his story here. Thank you very much for your support!
