The kicker is the two-hour free delivery for min S$40 spend (for PRIME members; currently it's free to try). You can even get your items in an hour with a S$9.99 fee. That's going to blow the competition out of the water. Folks like RedMart, Lazada, honestbee and even Qoo10 are going to find it hard to compete with that.
Dennis from SuperAdrianMe was showing me this photo, now famously repeated in CNA and CNN. Even as a teaser, you immediately know from the logo what this is about! I love this shot.
So exciting, right?
But will the prices be cheaper? It looks like some items are on offer, like Samsung devices and Canon cameras. The bigger savings are probably in electronics. I'm still browsing the huge collection.
Well the groceries look pretty standard in prices, but the variety isn't as extensive as RedMart's. Amazon does carry a fair bit of toiletries and personal care items, but these are at full retail prices, and some of these could be a lot cheaper in neighbourhood stores.
I have to say, the Toy section is mind-boggling though! And I'm curious about the AmazonBasics house brand items too.
So, it's worth grabbing some of the opening promos and trying out this definitely disruptive retail offering. Competition is always good; I hope this will spur some of the other online retailers to innovate.
Great Effort From Amazon..
