Scoot Singapore-Jakarta Flight
By now most of you will have heard that Scoot and Tigerair have merged under the Scoot brand. I have rarely flown Tiger but I like Scoot's branding and energetic vibe.
Recently on our trip to see the Fairmont and Raffles Jakarta, we got to fly one of these former Tiger routes. It was all Scoot on the surface, but you could see a bit of the Tiger still - see the tail and engine? Hidden Tiger, Crouching Scoot?
It was a short flight - just little over an hour for Singapore to Jakarta.
How do you like their new uniform?
The flight experience was amusingly a bit of a "culture shock" as the things we were used to in Scoot were not here. For example, there's no ScootBiz even if you're in the very first row. I don't think there is wifi or any electrical charging outlets.
And of course, this is no Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft with all the bells and whistles. It was just two years ago that Scoot became the first all-787 airline operator in the world. Alas, not anymore.
Food is the same expensive ScootCafe menu. For a short flight, we opted not to have any.
Staff are polite and friendly. But one of them very cheerily asked me not to take photos of them without asking for permission first. Oops, sorry, my bad! I guess we are too used to having former CEO Campbell Wilson in our previous flights who let us take all the photos we wanted. (The new CEO is from Tigerair, by the way).
So this was a Scoot-branded flight and yet felt like a Tiger flight. But no complaints: at least it was on time and the flight was smooth. And like most budget airlines, the Scoot-Tiger fares are low.
You can Scoot from Singapore to Jakarta from as low as SGD 55, or to Surabaya from SGD 74*! Log on to www.FlyScoot.com to book your tickets now.
